Mr. Gugliuzza is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. He received a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) degree with honors from DePaul University before graduating cum laude from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law. He has also completed several classes towards a doctorate degree in economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
While in law school, Mr. Gugliuzza was the student director of Loyola's Federal Tax clinic and was the CALI Award Recipient in the estate planning, estate and gift tax, federal tax clinic, and advanced legal research courses (the CALI Award is given for the highest grade in a class). Following law school, Mr. Gugliuzza joined the firm of Spain, Spain & Varnet, P.C. in Chicago where he concentrated his practice in the fields of estate planning, disability law, real estate law, and general probate.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Gugliuzza spent over ten years working in the financial services industry. A career that started at Merrill Lynch making “cold calls” for a broker and ended as the branch manager of TD Waterhouse’s (now Charles Schwab) Michigan Avenue branch. During this time, Mr. Gugliuzza became a Certified Financial Planner ™ and assisted families with all levels of wealth on financial matters. While Mr. Gugliuzza no longer works in the financial services industry, he still maintains his CFP™ designation and uses it to better advise his estate planning clients who also have questions and concerns about financial matters.
Mr. Gugliuzza was inspired early in his career by a book written by Norman Dacey named How to Avoid Probate. Mr. Dacey had dedicated his career to educating the world on the burdens of probate and offering them a solution in the inter-vivos trust. Mr. Gugliuzza hopes to build on the work of Mr. Dacey in the modern age by using the internet to educate people and provide them with the documents that were previously only available in books or through expensive lawyers.
